The number of portions you can get from a cake depends on if the cake cuts cleanly and the person who is cutting it. It is always better to overestimate the number of portions required slightly to be sure that everyone gets a taste.
Cake portions on the chart are approximate, and based on 1" finger slices for Fruit Cake, and Sponge cake portions are served at 2" x 1".
Allow extra cake if you would like larger portions for say, a tea time Christening or Birthday celebration.
